Autonics Proximity Sensors, Temp Controllers and Modular Switches

At any given time, we stock a broad range of Autonics proximity and temperature sensors as well as a robust number of temperature controls, timing relays, and modular switches.

For proximity sensors, we have several flavors of the CR Series – Cylindrical Capacitive Proximity Sensors – which can detect any material with a dielectric different than air. They can detect a wide range of materials from conductive to non-conductive types AND are easily configurable to boot!

In addition to the CR series, we have robust offerings in the PR Series and PRCM Series of proximity sensors. Both series are available in various sizes and sensing distances and are designed to work in a diverse range of applications calling for non-contact detection of metallic objects. Single Pair Ethernet a game changer for OEMs

If you are in the industry, at some point in time you have probably heard of the coming of single-pair ethernet. You may have thought, well it has been hear for a while. It could be that the reticence to move away from legacy infrastructure keeps single-pair ethernet in a bleeding-edge limbo of sorts. The fact is, single pair ethernet is here, it is getting better and it can go a long way to meeting the demands your infrastructure requires. 

A brief history of single-pair ethernet

Around 2015 the auto industry begin to rely more heavily on SPE (Single Pair Ethernet) due to it's cost, space, and weight saving properties while being able to transmit data at a fast rate. SPE controls all of the snazzy modern computerized functions that cars now come loaded with without weighing down your conveyance with miles of heavy cabling. 
 

Why SPE for industrial applications?

SPE allows for consistent data transmission at a field level while only using one-pair versus two, four of more pairs.

…and now for something completely different...a little dram of Panduit's fiber wunderkind, the OneMode. 

Panduit’s OneMode allows the end user to increase fiber backbone bandwidth without replacing existing infrastructure. If you are familiar with fiber, that explanation is enough to prompt an investigation as to how the OneMode follows through on this promise. For most of us, on the fringes of fiber, let us dig in a bit to types of savings OneMode potentially offers.

Editorial: The FLIR Scion Long Range Thermal Monocular solves a mid-life crisis we never knew we had

Staff Editorial - In some circles FLIR’s Scion Long Range Thermal Monocular falls into the basic needs’ category like food, water, and air. I simply cannot argue with this non fact-based generalization that I just made up, and that I do in fact find myself needing this long range thermal monocular. Even the name sounds nice despite its lengthy syllabic handicap. Say it with me, “All I want for Christmas is my FLIR Scion Long Range Thermal Monocular!” It just rolls off the tongue. True poetry in action.

Here is what has us enthusiastically geeking out over it. FLIR recently expanded the Scion Thermal Monocular Series with longer range detection. The new 25mm and 36mm lens options expand viewing capabilities up to 770 meters and 1,120 meters, respectively. Paired with FLIR’s high-performance Boson thermal core, users can observe objects at extreme distances with unparalleled clarity. Additionally, users can tailor their own viewing preferences using the new manual focus feature. How cool is that!? If you are like me and you enjoy walking into dark, sketchy places on a whim, or exploring the woods on moonless nights but want to see what may or may not screech across an expanse and latch onto your neck, then this beautiful tool is for you. This is the kind of thing you would want in your toolbox even if there was no pandemic, social movement, major election, recession, and global climate change presenting constant existential challenges and stoking the fires of paranoia.

Recently, Brian Leschorn, URS Product Manager, and value-added team lead, helped solved some problems that Thad Fisco and his experienced team at Portland Kettle Works were having during the development of the Germ-Fogger™, a revolutionary new industrial grade disinfecting system. In the age of Covid-19, the PKW team developed the Germ-Fogger™ out of the need to decontaminate their own craft brewery and coffee bar. Leschorn, was brought in during the later design stages to help come up with a specific switch that would satisfy their team’s requirement for a motor-rated On/Off Switch. In addition, he worked up three power inlet options, with and without input line cord, and a J-Box (Value-Added option) before their team decided on an Inlet Only solution from Marinco.
