Editors note: I prefer this iron to the previous “tripod” light design, which resembled a tool the Martians would have used in George Pal’s War of the Worlds adaptation. The light distribution is much more even and excels in low light conditions a I like to set a mood by dimming the lights when I make my cables.

Pro tip: We recommend pairing your iron with a soldering mat, helping hands, Kester pocket-pak 63/37 “Eutectic” solder to name a few. In layman’s terms Eutectic solder is a solder that melts at a specific temperature. When the heat source is removed it will solidify immediately. This can be advantageous for reflow projects or for those not wanting components to slip out of place while the solder is still molten.
